Board Certified Dermatologist
Interview with Dr.Garcia
Q : Tell us about yourself.
A : I grew up moving back and forth between Oahu and California. I graduated from the John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed my dermatology residency at UC Davis in Sacramento . I also did clinical research in autoimmune skin diseases at Stanford’s Department of Dermatology . I am an American Board of Dermatology board-certified dermatologist and I have a private practice at Queen’s Medical Center . I am also an assistant clinical professor in the JABSOM Department of Medicine . I am married and have two children. I love to do yoga and exercise. Right now my life mantra is BALANCE!
Q : How did you decide to specialize in dermatology?
A : I was thinking about specialties and initially wanted to do primary care. However, I realized that dermatologists were the happiest group of physicians and after shadowing a community physician, I realized that I loved taking care of the skin and doing procedures such as surgeries and injections. I am passionate about skin care and sun protection and that helps me in my everyday life and my medical practice.
Q : What are your dermatology interests?
A : I enjoy all aspects of dermatology including medical, surgical and cosmetic services for patients of all ages. It makes me happy when I know that I am helping others to feel good about themselves, whether that is treating acne on a teenager, or removing a mole that is bothersome, or doing lasers to improve brown spots. I can also take my personal love of skin care and translate that into finding skin care that is right for different patients.
