SCLEROTHERAPY is an injection of a sterile liquid agent into small blood vessels (spider veins) causing irritation of the vessel walls, leading to closure and disappearance of small clusters of fine caliber veins. Usually, 2 - 3 sessions are required, spaced 4 - 6 weeks apart. Each session lasts 20 - 30 minutes depending on how many veins are treated. We advise to avoid blood thinners, including aspirin-like products for one week prior to treatment (provided this is approved by your prescribing doctor) and no swimming for 2 days post treatment.
